About Emily Autenrieth
Credentials
After years of experience editing for friends and colleagues, I obtained my M.A. in English Rhetoric from the University of Alaska, Anchorage in 2009. I worked as a full-time technical writer at MVFCU and ANTHC for a total of five years while freelancing on the side before launching my business full time in late 2013.
I have been a grammar geek, lover of language, and information junkie since I can remember. In freelancing, I have found the career that fulfills all three characteristics: working with your writing projects. Collaborating with authors and subject matter experts teaches me new things, demands my detailed attention, and allows me to work with language to clearly and meaningfully express your message. I couldn't be doing anything more exciting.
I also care deeply about service. I am thankful that during my four years at ANTHC Environmental Health and Engineering, I served Alaska Natives and American Indians and learned about the unique challenges of providing services in rural Alaska. This meaningful work challenged me to look beyond the surface of a situation or communication opportunity to understand its full context and write in a way that advocates for service, equality, understanding, and innovation.
My family identifies as Alaskifornians. After many wonderful years living in various Alaskan cities, we moved to northern California in 2015. I continue to enjoy supporting projects that benefit Alaskans along with clients around the country.
